GRT makes clean construction aggregates from excess soil.
GRT’s Nanaimo Plant
Canada’s first resource regeneration facility for IL+ soils, dredge and slurries.
GRT is excited to introduce an innovative solution to Vancouver Island that enables excess or contaminated soils and muds—once bound for landfills—to be cleaned and reintegrated back into local markets.
100,000 tonnes diverted from landfills since June 2021.
An exciting alternative to the ‘cradle to grave’ life cycle of excess soils today.
As urban development sites become increasingly scarce, available land often requires remediation because of trace contamination in the soil, or because excavated material isn’t structurally suitable to be reused as fill.
GRT’s facility uses water to wash the soil, and then screens and sorts the components so they can be safely reused. Then, we treat the wash water so that it can be used again to clean the next batch of soil.
Any contaminated material that is left over is blended with our clay output, then transferred to a provincially permitted facility to be beneficially reused as landfill cover.
